CROSBY, STILLS & NASH JOIN FORCES WITH TOM MORELLO AT NOKIA THEATRE L.A. LIVE ON OCT. 3 TO DEFEAT PROPOSITION 32 ON NOV. BALLOT
Concert to Increase Awareness of Highly Deceptive Measure Opposed
By Thousands of Nurses, Firefighters, Teachers and League of Women Voters
On Wednesday, October 3, legendary supergroup Crosby, Stills & Nash (CSN) and activist/musician Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine, The Nightwatchman) will perform a special concert at Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles. The show is a benefit to help defeat Proposition 32 on the State of California’s November election ballot. CSN and Morello hope to increase awareness of the deceptive measure designed to mislead voters and increase corporations’ power by gutting important campaign transparency laws.
The event will feature guest speakers, including acclaimed actor/producer/director Edward James Olmos, an evening of music with CSN, and an acoustic performance by Morello (whose set will open the evening, with CSN closing). During set changes, guest speakers will advocate for Proposition 32’s defeat, and fire up a crowd that is expected to include thousands of members of organized labor. The event starts with a reception from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m., with music beginning at 7 p.m.
“We’re joining with these artists to speak out against Proposition 32,” said Brian D’Arcy, Co-Chair Working Californians, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 18, Business Manager. “It’s a Trojan horse aimed at labor and the hardworking, Middle Class people we fight for every day. Corporate CEO’s and Wall Street investors are behind it – it’s a power grab to silence us and advance their agenda.”
“Out-of-state corporations are using Prop. 32 to tilt the playing field even more in their direction and away from real people,” Tom Morello said. “This is about oil, tobacco, banking and insurance companies gaining the power necessary to re-write laws to fit their agenda…more tax credits for shipping jobs overseas, weaker consumer protections and relaxing air quality laws.”
Thousands of middle-class workers including nurses, firefighters, teachers, 911 operators and members of the League of Women Voters oppose Proposition 32. It promises to get money out of politics, but it actually floods California with money from out-of-state corporations, CEOs and Wall Street tycoons. The real purpose is to gut campaign finance rules to create an uneven playing field that benefits a few big money interests. It does this by allowing unlimited undisclosed corporate campaign spending while prohibiting labor unions from participating in the political process entirely.

Multi-talented musician and activist Tom Morello is best known for his tenure with bands Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave, his acoustic solo act The Nightwatchman and his newest group, Street Sweeper Social Club.
