Graham Nash Joins Yo La Tengo In New York City

Graham Nash joined Yo La Tengo for a three-song encore Sunday at The Bowery Ballroom in New York City. The Sun Ra Arkestra and Jim White also performed during the opening show of this year's annual 8 Nights Of Hanukkah With Yo La Tengo run.
Yo La Tengo began the tradition of annual eight-show Hanukkah residencies at Maxwell's in their hometown of Hoboken, New Jersey in 2001 and the typically guest-filled celebrations continued through 2012. The 8 Nights Of Hanukkah With Yo La Tengo tradition was revived last year - also at The Bowery.
White played drums alongside Georgia Hubley throughout Yo La Tengo's performance that began by guitarist Ira Kaplan leading a cover of The Beatles' "From Me to You" with lyrics changed to "with love from me to Jews." Much of Yo La Tengo's set featured accompaniment by the legendary Sun Ra Arkestra, who also opened the evening's program. The collaboration began with Sun Ra's "Dreaming" and closed with the iconic jazz pianist's "Nuclear War."
Nash emerged for the encore, helping sing Graham Gouldman's "For Your Love." He then led takes on The Hollies' classics "Look Through Any Window" and "Bus Stop."
